The Lost Sheep Journey

How It All Started

The year was 2010, we had just got married and finished renovating our 'Dream Home' in Whitstable, we both had the 'career' jobs which meant commuting to and from work daily like sheep. One night we was laying in bed and simply said to each other we can't keep being 'Sheep' all our life.

So in 2011, we quit our careers working the 9-5 (more like an 8-8) to go get 'Lost' backpacking around the world! We had no idea what we wanted to do, we simply had the dream we would discover something whilst we traveled the world! We traveled through China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and finally we arrived in Melbourne, Australia.

That is when it happened! We discovered Aussie-style coffee and we knew instantly that we had to bring this style of coffee back to the UK. We didn’t realise it at the time, but at that moment, but the real Journey had only just begun!

From Humble Beginnings

In 2012, we borrowed £10,000 and purchased our beloved three-wheeled micro coffee van and started pitching up on Canterbury High Street (just outside Starbuck, which seemed like a good idea at the time!).

Our aim was simple, to introduce our local community to Aussie Speciality Coffee, something no one was doing back then in Kent!

Our first ever customers, on holiday from Italy.

In 2014, we had outgrown our little street trading pitch and managed to find a permanent home in Canterbury bus station. That is when we also upgraded to our Lost Sheep Coffee Pod 1.0 and sadly said goodbye to the beloved Piaggio Ape van.

From One Site to Two

Early in 2015 we started speaking to the amazing team at McarthurGlen Designer outlet in Ashford, they wanted to bring something new to the centre and offer their guests a new way to enjoy coffee. So in November 2015 we officially launched in their food court and my god was it COLD!

Upgrade Time & Roasting

2017, was a busy year! We officially opened our award-winning Aussie style specilaity coffee roastery in the April and in May we welcomed our first child, we then decided to upgrade our Canterbury Pod to Pod 2.0 made from a converted shipping container.

Shop, Online & a Capsule?

In 2018, we began focusing on our mission to make Aussie style specialty coffee more accessible—not just in our shops, but at home too. We launched our online store, introduced a fresh rebrand, and made industry waves by creating the UK’s first airtight, fully compostable specialty coffee pods—even picking up some awards along the way.

In 2019, we opened our first official shop at the McArthurGlen Ashford Designer Outlet, a 1,500 sq ft hub of energy!

Whats a Lockdown?

Lockdown? What's that? 2020–2021— wow that was a challenging few years for everyone. But thanks to the incredible support from our community, especially through our online shop, we made it through. We’ll never stop being grateful for your love and support during this time!

Beyond 2022.....

We moved our shop to Sun Street, Canterbury. Back to where it all started, going forward we have lots of plans and lots of innovation happening, with some new products set to shake industry up! Watch this space!
